
Editor’s Note: Early Saturday morning, community members, local activists and clergy gathered in front of Coachella City Hall for a ‘Black Lives Matter’ rally hosted by local youth advocacy group, Brown Mijas. Father Guy Wilson, from Our Lady of Soledad Church in Coachella, led the crowd in prayer and asked the community to come together in light of the recent killings of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and five police officers in Dallas, Texas. Youth reporter, Karla Martinez spoke to community members at the, ‘Coachella for Black Lives’ rally about what motivated them to attend the event. Read their responses here:
